Your dentist applies a tooth-coloured resin (white filling material) to the outer surface of your front teeth. The composite material can improve the appearance of stained, uneven and chipped teeth or restore decayed teeth.
Composite bonding can also be used to reduce gaps between teeth for a seamless and natural-looking smile.
Your dentist will lightly roughen the surface of the teeth to be treated. The resin is then applied to the tooth and it bonds to the surface.
When the resin hardens under a special light, your dentist will polish the surface to match the surrounding teeth. It is a quick procedure with reliable results.
With regular care, bonding usually lasts several years. However, biting on hard foods such as ice cubes or chewing nails or pens can chip the surface.
If damaged, composite bonding can be repaired or replaced as required.
