Dental implants in Birmingham

A fixed, natural-looking solution for missing teeth

Missing teeth can affect far more than your smile. You may find yourself avoiding certain foods, feeling self-conscious in photos, or struggling with dentures that never quite feel secure. Dental implants offer a fixed, stable, and natural-looking solution that restores strength, function, and confidence.

Unlike dentures or bridges, implants replace the entire tooth structure, including the root. This helps protect your jawbone, preserve neighbouring teeth, and deliver a result that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.

At Hilltop Dental, we combine advanced digital technology with personalised, patient-focused care. Our experienced implant dentists have placed thousands of implants, providing safe, predictable results you can trust. With transparent pricing, flexible finance options, and both online and in-person consultations available, we make high-quality implant treatment accessible and straightforward.

If you’re ready to restore your smile with confidence, we’re here to help.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant consists of a small titanium screw that is carefully placed into the jawbone, where it acts as an artificial tooth root. Over time, the implant naturally fuses with the bone, creating a strong, stable foundation for your new tooth.

Once healed, a bespoke restoration (such as a crown, bridge or denture) is securely attached to the implant. This restoration is carefully colour-matched to your natural teeth colour, or if you’re replacing multiple teeth, you can even choose a brighter shade if you wish.

At Hilltop Dental, we use the latest digital imaging and planning technology to ensure precise implant placement and predictable results. Every restoration is custom-designed and colour-matched to your smile. Our experienced dental team offer both single and full-arch implants (All-on-4 or Smile in a Day).

Why choose dental implants?

Dental implants are one of the most reliable and advanced solutions for replacing missing teeth. Designed to restore both appearance and function, they can replace multiple teeth so you can smile, speak and eat with complete confidence again.

  • Look, feel and function like natural teeth.
  • Provide excellent long-term stability and bite strength, so you can enjoy all foods comfortably.
  • Help preserve jawbone and facial structure to restore your confidence and self-esteem
  • Are secure, comfortable and easy to care for as part of your normal oral routine.
  • Typically last significantly longer than dentures or bridges.

Implants vs dentures or bridges

While dentures and bridges are valid options and can provide excellent results, they often rely on surrounding teeth or need replacing over time. Designed to look and feel exactly like your other teeth, dental implants do not need to be removed or cleaned separately, and you will not have to worry about them clicking, slipping or falling out.

For many of our patients, dental implants have significantly improved comfort, confidence, and quality of life. Patients tell us they delayed treatment for years, often wishing they had acted sooner. See below for our transformation stories and imagery.

FAQ's

Is the dental implant procedure painful?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the implant procedure. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area, ensuring the procedure is carried out comfortably. After treatment, any mild soreness is usually temporary and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

How long does the implant process take?

The implant process typically takes several months, depending on individual healing times and whether bone grafting is needed. Generally, the implant fuses with the jawbone over 3 – 6 months, after which the final crown can be placed for a fully restored smile.

What is the success rate of dental implants?

Dental implants have a success rate of 95-98% when cared for properly. They’re designed to be a lasting solution, but maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups are key to their longevity.

Will dental implants look and feel natural?

Yes, dental implants are custom-designed to match your natural teeth in shape, colour, and function. Once in place, implants look, feel, and perform just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with full confidence.

Can dental implants replace multiple missing teeth?

Yes. Dental implants can be used to replace a singular tooth or multiple missing teeth by supporting a bridge or full arch of teeth (All-on-4). In many cases, fewer implants are needed than expected, as one implant can support more than one tooth. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate option during your consultation. We will work with you to create a bespoke treatment plan that suits your needs.

Who can get dental implants?

Dental implants are usually not recommended if your adult teeth haven’t finished coming through yet. This usually happens between the ages of 18 and 23.

If you are a smoker, we recommend you give up before you have dental implants, due to an increased infection risk; if you are having difficulty quitting, Birmingham City Council has a list of resources to help you.

If you have severe gum disease, we will help you treat it before you get your implants.

Other medical conditions such as diabetes can affect whether they are suitable for you. At your initial consultation, we will give you a medical assessment to make sure dental implants are right for you. You will get the opportunity to raise any concerns or questions you may have.

I have dentures. Can I switch to implants?

Yes – we see many patients who already have dentures and opt for implants instead. Implants can prevent your jawbone deteriorating and prevent bone loss; we recommend them as a safe, long-term solution.
