How is it carried out?
Dental IV Sedation is a form of sedation carried out by inserting a very thin tube into your arm, or back of your hand (like when you have a blood test) and passing a medication called midazolam through this.
This is to help you feel calm and happy whilst having treatment. This will allow you the opportunity to have treatment done that you were otherwise too nervous to have carried out.
Is it safe?
It is completely safe, reversible and you will be awake throughout the entire procedure
(however most patients report forgetting what happened after the effects wear off) as the drug has an amnesic effect.
Will someone need to come with me?
Dental IV sedation requires to have an escort with you to bring you to and from the appointment, and to ideally be with you 24 hours after having this type of sedation – generally the effects wear off before you have left our premises.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the treatment depends on the time booked but typically the cost is £150 per 30 minute session.
